Sam’s Club to Invest $2.5 Million in Women Entrepreneurs

Thanks to a grant from Sam's Club, women-owned businesses across the U.S. will have greater access to affordable business loans and business training. It's all being offered through a program called the WE Lend Initiative.

About the Initiative

A $2.5 million grant from Sam's Club was awarded to three non-profit organizations. The money enabled these leading non-profits to create the WE Lend Initiative. The purpose of the WE Lend Initiative is to offer more support to Women's Business Centers that are recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). With more funding, the centers can offer more services to support women entrepreneurs.

The importance of supporting Women's Business Centers

Business funding is a huge issue for women who own, or want to own, their own businesses. Women's Business Centers can help women entrepreneurs find funding and affordable loans and micro loans. They can put them in touch with resources that will help them with funding for their businesses.

According to the Sam’s Club Gallup Microbusiness Tracker, 67 percent of women who own micro businesses with fewer than 5 employees are financing those businesses with their own money. The new WE Lend Initiative will help women entrepreneurs find other financing resources that will provide more stability and growth for their businesses.
