Dept Store Foundation
Charitable giving through the Federated Foundation, from Federated’s
divisions and corporate office and The May Department Stores Foundation
totaled more than $33.5 million in fiscal 2005. Areas of strategic focus

Girl’s
Best Friend Foundation (Chicago)
The Foundation has supported leadership, activism, and social change
by girls and young women since 1994. Over $5.8 million in grants have
been made in support of policies and programs that ensure girls’
self determination, power and well being. GBF makes core grants twice
a year to support organizations and programs focused on gender conscious
youth development, leadership, and activism that furthers feminist social
change.

Girls Global
Education Fund (GGEF)
GGEF is unique in that they are the only organization whose sole mission
is to send girls to schools. To address the gender gap that exists between
girls’ and boys’ education wanted to give girls a program
of their own.

Girls Going
Places Entrepreneurship Award
An annual initiative designed to reward the enterprising spirits of
girls ages 12 to 18. Guardian awards prizes to 15 girls who demonstrate
budding entrepreneurship; are taking the first steps toward financial
