Nonprofits Receive Grants from Women's Legacy Fund

Women's Legacy Fund
Three California nonprofit organizations were recently awarded grants from the Women's Legacy Fund for their work in addressing the needs of women and girls. A total of $20,000 was awarded in grants.

The Women's Legacy Fund was founded in 2003. It is an endowment that raises funding through local donations. Grants are offered to nonprofits that improve the lives of local girls and women through education, health and economic independence. Examples of nonprofits that have received grants include women's shelters, after-school care and education programs for children, and others.

The fund targets the needs of girls and women in San Luis Obispo County, California. Their research indicated a critical need to help women effected by domestic violence, rape and sexual assault, teenage pregnancy, homelessness, alcoholism, and lack of child care among women. Their goal is to maintain a permanent endowment that will give grants to organizations dedicated to serving the needs of girls and women for years to come.

The Women's Legacy Fund is part of the Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County, California. The Foundation awards grants to nonprofits who contribute to the betterment of their communities through arts and culture, education, health, human services, and community improvement.
