Shell Oil to Give More Contracts to Women and Minority-Owned Businesses
Shell Oil Company, headquarted in Houston, Texas, has announced that they want to award more contracts to women and minority-owned businesses. Specifically, they want to increase their supplier diversity, largely characterized by the use of minority- and women-owned suppliers, by 40 percent over the next few years.
Interested entrepreneurs and business should first get certified by an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, or both. Afterwards, they are automatically qualified to apply for all contract opportunities.
Shell says they are committed to the economic development of minority and women owned and operated firms, and that it is their policy to actively engage in efforts that povide for supplier inclusion. Through concerted initiatives to partner with minority and women business enterprises (M/WBEs), they can facilitate the sustained growth of the corporation and those firms who are an integral part of the global communities that they serve.
Shell, which employs 22,000 people in the United States, has annual revenues of more than $2 billion.
