Sam's Club Giving Program Establishes $2.5 Million Grant to Grow U.S. Women-Owned Businesses

Sam's Club Grants For Women-Owned Businesses
The WE Lend Initiative was recently announced by Sam's Club CEO and President Rosalind Brewer. It is a new grant program created through the Sam's Club Giving Program designed to help small U.S. businesses owned by women to prosper and grow.

The grants are offered to SBA-recognized Women's Business Centers (WBCs). The increased financial support to WBCs will allow the centers to increase access to affordable loans and innovative training to hundreds more women entrepreneurs. This will result in business growth for women entrepreneurs and increased job growth for areas served by women-owned businesses.

The grants will fund several services that will directly affect women entrepreneurs. The WBCs who are recipients of the grants will receive training to become microlenders who can provide loans to women business owners and teach women business owners how to prepare their financial situation in order to make them good candidates for business loans.

The new grant program is good news to women business owners. Many women entrepreneurs rely on their own personal savings to finance their businesses, according to new research from the Sam's Club Gallup Microbusiness Tracker. The WE Lend Initiative will increase access to capital funding for more women-owned businesses who previously had no choice but to rely on their own cash reserves to support their business.
