The Women’s Fund is a non-profit organization of women who make philanthropic gifts to other non-profit organizations whose work benefits women and children in Tyler/Smith County, Texas. The organization recently awarded $143,451 in impact grants.
Impact grants are given to non-profit businesses for projects that benefit or make an impact on the lives of women and children. The idea of the grants is to improve the lives of women in need and by so doing it will also benefit their children.
Services offered by various organizations who have received grants range from teaching children how to grow healthy fruits and vegetables and making good food choices, job training and mentoring for single women, counseling for shelter residents, and many others. Grants focus in the areas of health, human services, education and arts and culture.
The Women’s Fund was created in 2008 and has given grants every year since 2009. A total of $687,451 has been awarded to local non-profit organizations for projects that benefit women and children. The Women’s Fund is part of The Women’s Collective Network that has collectively given almost $8 million.
