Count Me In for Women's Economic Independence was founded in 1999 to help thousands of women business owners grow and succeed. It is estimated that about 50 percent of the 100,000 businesses in the United States are owned by women veterans. Capital One's goal is to help women service members who have entered the civilian workforce.
In addition to grant money, Capital One will also contribute volunteers to provide important services such as coaching and mentoring. This tremendous support is part of Capital One's overall commitment to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Hiring Our Heroes program which helps veterans returning to the workforce as well as military spouses.
The new small business training program for women veteran business owners is open to women veterans whose businesses are not start-ups but already established. The program will include panels and workshops, followed by intense group coaching that will teach women how to sharpen their business skills.
