The MGCC Small Business Technical Assistance Grant Program Helps Small Businesses Grow

Massachusetts Growth Capital Organization (MGCC) helps small business across the state, many of them owned by women, minorities and veterans. The organization offers both technical assistance grants as well as mini-grants for professional services that allows small businesses to grow.

Technical assistance grants

Technical assistance grants are awarded annually to organizations that are providing technical assistance, education, and access to capital to small businesses, including those owned by women, minorities and veterans. The grant program supports and strengthens ongoing business-development activities in low-and moderate-income and underserved communities across Massachusetts. Through this grant, more economic development non-profit organizations are able to help small businesses create and preserve jobs.

Mini grants

For many small businesses who need professional, technical, and operational services in order to grow, MGCC offers mini grants. Mini grants can be used for marketing, web site development, business expertise, and loan application assistance that opens the doors to more capital.

Technical assistance grants totaling $940,000 went to 32 organizations in 2017, with grants ranging from $10,000 to $60,000. Mini grants for professional services totaling $47,495.50 went to 27 small businesses and enabled them to address and resolve areas of their business that were preventing them from growing. The grants also increased jobs and stimulated the growth of 250 small businesses across the state.
