For the second consecutive year, Portland, Oregon's Startup PDX Challenge is offering business grants of $15,000. This year's deadline is June 23, 2014.
This year's grant competition is placing a priority on businesses run by women, veterans, and minority groups. Up to six small business owners will receive grants of $15,000 each, plus free office space for one year in the section of the city known as Old Town.
Target applicants are startup companies. The grants are provided by the Portland Development Commission to give new businesses a boost in their early growth period. Applicants must be startups and for-profit companies with the potential to reach national or international markets.
In addition to grant money and free rent, winners will receive free legal services, free marketing and PR assistance, free hiring and human resource support, and free membership into eight organizations who focus on providing assistance to entrepreneurs.
