Skilled Trades for Women Program Offers Free Training

It's called the Step Up For Women Program, and it offers free training for women who are interested in breaking with tradition to enter the non-traditional career field of construction. It's not a grant, but like a grant, it helps women who want to change careers.

The program is designed to train women and prepare them for a career in the skilled trades. This includes carpentry, electrical wiring, and plumbing. The training program is absolutely free. The training program will also provide opportunities to attend additional classes for certifications and other licenses.

Women who have completed the training program have been able find good jobs in construction companies, the highway department, and even start their own businesses. The organization provides a fitness center for women in the program that enables them to remain strong and fit for a career in the construction or skilled trades profession.

The program is offered in West Virginia by West Virginia Women Work, a non-profit organization that supports women in nontraditional employment roles. The organization was formed to help women in West Virginia learn a trade and be able to work. The focus of their effort is to encourage women to consider careers in nontraditional occupations, especially the skilled trades.
