Columbia University Supports Women Scientists in the Country

Women in Science Columbia

Women in Science at Columbia (WISC) is a graduate student organization dedicated to the advancement of women and underrepresented groups in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields.

They host various events for outreach, networking, mentoring, and professional development. The goal of these events is not only to encourage more women to enter the STEM fields but to also provide support for individuals already in these fields.

The initiative consists of 15 international research grants, 3 per continent, awarded by the “For Women in Science L’Oréal-Unesco” program. It will award seven scholarships to recognize the work of women scientists in the country.

The program, produced by Columbia University in New York City, is supported by L’Oréal, and Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Icetex, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Executive Secretariat of the National Committee to cooperate with UNESCO.
