Parentpreneur Grant Program Helps New & Expecting Parents Make Their Dream Jobs a Reality

Parentpreneur Grant Program

Starting your own business certainly has its risks, especially if you are a young parent with children. But this doesn't mean you have to give up your dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Programs are available to help. One new program called the Parentpreneur Grant Program even offers grants up to $10,000.

Who is eligible?

Small businesses owned by parents with children are eligible to apply. Eligible businesses must have been formed after Dec. 31, 2010 and have fewer than 20 employees. They must also have children either born after December 31, 2010, or are expecting a child before December 31, 2015.

How much money?

Grants are available from as little as $1,000 up to $10,000. Grants represent money that does not have to be paid back. The program is open to all kinds of businesses, such as product development and services, technology, travel and entertainment, fashion, art, media, and others. A total of $50,000 will be awarded in grants to eligible businesses.

The grant is sponsored by The First Years, a manufacturer of high-quality products for young children and families. The company, owned by parent company TOMY, is headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, with locations in Iowa, Massachusetts, Arizona, and international.

The deadline to apply is October 31, 2015.
