The Atlanta Women's Foundation Focuses on Empowerment of Women and Girls

The Atlanta Women's Foundation
The Atlanta Women’s Foundation is the only public foundation in the state of Georgia that gives grants solely for companies whose services improve the economic status of economically vulnerable women in Atlanta. Women and others who own a company that in some way helps to build strong women and girls may qualify for grant support.

The organization does not give grants to individuals or private businesses. Business owners who qualify for grant money must be existing non-profit organizations whose work utilizes strategies that foster social change and economic empowerment for women and girls. This includes low-income female headed households with children living in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton or Gwinnett counties, and girls up to age 18. Eligible organizations can apply for a general operating grant or a program grant.

Examples of organizations who have been awarded grants include summer programs for girls at community centers, health education and medical services, health centers that improve the health and well-being of black women and their families, free clinics that address the physical and mental health needs of homeless and low-income women and children, and shelters for women and their children.

The Atlanta Women’s Foundation was established in 1986. Since its beginning, the organization has given more than $12 million to non-profit organizations in Atlanta working toward the goal of ending the cycle of poverty for women and girls.
