Google has announced grants for women in Europe in the field of high technology to attend technical conferences. The grants are for women either working in or studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
The Flossie Conference will be held in London on November 8 & 9 and is for women interested in open source coding, digital arts and social technology. Any female who is a student, professional, entrepreneur or researcher in the field of technology may apply. The deadline for application is October 4, 2013.
The Velocity Conference is also in London on November 14 & 15. It is focused on web performance and operations. Female students, researchers, developers, engineers and entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply.
The grants cover not only the cost of conference registration but also includes a travel stipend. Google is offering the grants to encourage more women to pursue careers in computing and technology.
