A West Springfield, Massachusetts women's club, called the Ramapogue Woman's Club, is offering continuing education grants to residents in West Springfield who want to go back to school. Those eligible for the grants include women and men who return to school full-time at a college, university or technical school.
According to The New York Times, more women are going back to school than men. In fact, the percentage of women enrolled in colleges and universities now exceeds the number that are currently employed in the labor force. Statistics from The National Center for Education Statistics shows that 11.7 million women were enrolled in degree programs at colleges and universities in 2009, compared to 8.8 million men.
Residents of West Springfield interested in education grants may be eligible if they can demonstrate financial need and have high academic performance. They must be first-time recipients of the grant applying for a continuing education grant for the first time.
Since 1968, The West Springfield Ramapogue Woman's Club has been awarding continuing education grants to local residents.
