Chicken & Egg Pictures Honors Women Filmmakers With Grants

Chicken & Egg Pictures, San Francisco, California recently awarded a total of $220,000 in grants to 25 female filmmakers for their work in documentary films. Three of the films will go on to compete at the Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. documentary competition.

Each year, Chicken & Egg Pictures honors the works of veteran female filmmakers for their achievements in documentary film making. Grants are awarded in three different categories that include I Believe In You grants for early film development, Liberty grants to support creative film efforts, and Celebration grants for veteran female filmmakers.

Chicken & Egg Pictures is a non-profit organization that funds the work of women in film making. It was established in 2005 by two award-winning independent female filmmakers. Since its beginning, the organization has given more than $2.7 million in grants to women filmmakers.

In addition to grants, the organization provides mentoring to female filmmakers, supports women documentary directors, promotes the advancement of women in the entertainment industry, and funds festivals and other activities that promote collaboration among women in the field of documentary film making.
