Tiffanie Anderson knew she had a special talent when she was 20 years old. She believes her talent as an artist was inherited from her grandparents, who were also artists. But making a living as an artist was another matter, leaving her for a time living out of her car.
From starving artist to thriving celebrity painter
Anderson, from Los Angeles, California, started painting when she was 20. She knew in her heart that she had something special and she was determined to turn it into a career. Little did she know how hard it would be to reach her dream.
When Anderson gave up singing to pursue her career as an artist, everything changed, but not for the better. At least not right away. She was living with her parents at the time who gave her an ultimatum; either get a real job or get out. Determined to continue her art, Anderson got out and ended up living in her car.
The break she needed
Anderson needed a way to stand out from other artists, so she came up with a way to make images out of broken glass, something she says nobody else knows how to do. It eventually got the attention of celebrities who began to ask, "Who did this?" That was the break Anderson needed.
Now, at age 28, Anderson's clients include Floyd Mayweather, Russell Simmons, Jason Derulo, Young Thug, Jay Z, The Weeknd, Amber Rose and Blac Chyna. It's been a long, tough road, but Anderson wouldn't have it any other way. She is living her dream.
Anderson's advice to other young entrepreneurs: "When you work really hard, there’s nowhere to go but up." She also advises others to pursue their dream 100 percent and find a way to "eliminate the stereotypes."
