The MasterCard Women in Entrepreneurship Program Fuels the Success of Women Entrepreneurs in Canada

Six women-led startups in Canada will receive financial support and entrepreneurial training through a new program in Canada called the MasterCard Women in Entrepreneurship Program. The program was designed to narrow the gender gap in the entrepreneurial world.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates are female founders, co-founders or leaders of startup companies in Canada, especially companies in the areas of online and terminal payment integration, loyalty points, cyber security and financial technology. Other requirements include:

  • Business must solve an important problem such as economic or social
  • Business solution must make innovative use of technology
  • Each entrant must have a business plan
  • Companies applying must have a prototype of their product
Awards


Six women-led companies will receive $10,000 worth of prizes each in the form of a $5,000 pre-paid MasterCard and admission to the DMZ for six to eight months. Formerly known as the Digital Media Zone, DMZ at Ryerson University is one of the largest business incubators in Canada for startup companies in technology. DMZ connects startups with customers, advisors, and other entrepreneurs.

DMZ is based at Ryerson University, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The college is an urban university that focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship.
