L'Oreal's Women in Science Fellowship Program Awards $60,000 Grants To 5 Women

L'Oreal
It's no surprise that French cosmetics and beauty company L'Oreal would want to reward women in science for their accomplishments. Seventy percent of the company's scientists and innovators are women. Since 2003, they have been recognizing the achievements among these exceptional women.

Eligibility

Candidates are post-doctoral female scientists who are pursuing postdoctoral research. The grant money will be used to fund their research. The female scientists are working on a vast array of unusual projects, such as studying chemicals in premature babies' urine that may uncover early signs of sickness, researching gene therapies, studying galaxies, and taking on other projects in chemistry and biology.

After receiving their grant awards, grant recipients are invited to tour L'Oreal's research labs. The week also includes a meeting at the White House and attending a Smithsonian mentoring event in Washington, D.C.

Judging

All grant candidates are judged by a jury of career scientists and former North American L'ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Laureates. Since 1993, The L'Oreal Women in Science Fellowship Program has awarded over $2 million in grants to 50 post-doctoral female scientists.
