New Grant Available for Indian Women Documentary Filmmakers

The Indian Documentary Foundation and Chicken & Egg Pictures are offering a $10,000 grant to each of two Indian women documentary filmmakers. The grant is for experienced filmmakers who are either in the middle of their career as a filmmaker or a first-time film director.

The films must address human rights, social justice, and environmental issues. Women filmmakers based in India are encouraged to enter. The grant will include a combination of cash and financial support services that include editing, post production and sound mixing. All films submitted must be directed or co-directed by a woman.

The grant is offered by the Indian Documentary Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, development and funding of documentaries about India that are filmed in India; and Chicken & Egg Pictures, the only nonprofit organization that is solely dedicated to supporting women documentary film directors.

Applicants must submit their film as well as other prior work samples before the deadline of November 21, 2014. The purpose of the grant is to support Indian documentary films that have a strong story to tell and potential for widespread distribution on television, VOD and/or theatrical release.
