Ohio Non-Profits Receive Over $70,000 in Grants to Help Women and Girls

Women's Endowment Fund
Eleven organizations located in the Akron, Ohio county of Summit received some good news recently. These non-profit organizations received a total of $72,050 in grants from the Women’s Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation. This will enable the organizations to provide more needed services to girls and women in the area.

The Women's Endowment Fund, part of the Akron Community Foundation, is a group of over 100 dedicated women who continue to work to help women and girls in need within the Summit County area. They are always looking for programs to support that will result in educating and empowering local women. They also continue to research areas of need in order to prioritize the focus of their grant making.

The non-profit organizations who recently received grants from the Women's Endowment Fund met the fund's criteria by providing services in the areas of health and wellness, safety from violence, and economic empowerment for local women and girls. These grants will fund transitional housing for homeless women, education and support for mothers, legal aid, and even help women start their own businesses.

The Women’s Endowment Fund has been providing help for women and girls in the community since 1993. They are supported by a permanent endowment fund from the Akron Community Foundation, which means they will be able to continue to assess local needs and award grants to local non-profits. Since its beginning, the fund has been able to award more than $650,000 in grants to support non-profits providing help to women and girls in Summit County.
