Women who own small businesses are invited to participate. Their businesses can be anything from providing financial services to designing jewelry. One participant receives a grant for $5,000 to help grow her business. The program gives participants the challenge of taking meeting space at a Fairfield Inn and developing the most creative use of the space to make the greatest impact on their businesses.
Some of the participants used the space to host trunk shows for their products, sponsor a fundraiser, conduct a seminar or other business-related meetings. The business that shows the great creativity and best use of space receives a $5,000 grant.
The grants are sponsored by Marriott's Fairfield Inn & Suites in an effort to provide more support to women-owned businesses. As Shruti Buckley, vice president and global brand manager for Fairfield Inn & Suites stated, "Women-owned business is a vital part of American entrepreneurship. Doing what we can at Fairfield to help the ELEVATE participants come closer to attaining their business goals has been a valuable and inspiring experience for us."
