Women's Impact Fund in Charlotte Opens Applications for Business Grants

Applications are now being taken by the Women's Impact Fund of Charlotte, North Carolina, for grants to non-profit organizations in the areas of arts and culture, education, environment, health and human services. The deadline for applications is October 7, 2013.

Grants can range from $40,000 to $100,000. Non-profit businesses in Mecklenburg County may apply. New and existing businesses are eligible as long as the nature of the business serves a critical need in Mecklenburg County in the organization's five designated areas. The projects must result in bringing positive change to the community.

The fund is particularly looking for business that will result in long-term results. Five organizations are chosen each year to receive grant money. Examples of businesses that have been funded include literacy enrichment, skill-building programs, summer school programs for low-income students, mobile dental clinics, family housing programs, and more.

The Women's Impact Fund was founded in 2003 by women entrepreneurs. Since its beginning, the organization has awarded a total of nearly $3.4 million to 44 non-profit organizations.
