The program is initially being offered in the state of Pennsylvania where the company is located. The company has targeted businesses owned by women, minorities and veterans because of high unemployment within these groups. The goal of the grant program is to help businesses through grants which do not have to be repaid and save them costs on their energy bills. Both goals are expected to help these small businesses grow and hire more employees.
The company has allocated $5 million for grants in Pennsylvania and plans to eventually offer the program in other states. The grants cover energy initiatives including 10 percent for equipment to install LED tube lighting up to $50,000 in grant money per business location and 100 percent of the cost to have an energy analysis. Businesses must be U.S. owned and located in the U.S. They must be owned by women, minorities or veterans.
