The Port St. Lucie Business Women organization, located in Port St. Lucie, Florida, started in 1980 by four women supporting each other in their careers. It has grown into a professional organization who support the careers of hundreds of women in the area.The organization consists of 40 women who work hard to raise money for grants that help women and other local organizations that benefit the community. To raise money for the Community Action Grants and Awards, the organization holds a luncheon and fashion show each year where over 300 people attend and more than $15,000 is raised.
Port St. Lucie Business Women is independent and local. Since its beginning, it has awarded thousands of dollars in grant money. In addition, the organization offers two scholarships of $2,500 each to two women each year to help them pursue their higher education goals. The scholarship pays for tuition and books.
The organization received the Civic Excellence Award by United Way for promoting the interests of business women and serving the community in Port St. Lucie.
