Three Generations Circle of Women Givers To Award Grants in Traverse City, Michigan

Women's Resource Center
The Three Generations Circle of Women Givers is accepting applications for grants totaling $12,500 in May of 2013. The deadline for submitting applications is March 15, 2013. Applicants must be non-profit organizations that offer programs for the safety of women and girls and teach them to be self-sufficient.

The non-profit is located in Traverse City, Michigan, but serves the needs of women and girls in the Grand Traverse County area of approximately 88,349. It is an affiliate of Women's Resource Center which was established in 1975 to provide help for victims of domestic violence. The organization hopes to award up to five grants in 2013.

Applicants must be non-profits who are seeking funding for projects that benefit women. They must submit a proposal on the purpose for the program, how it will benefit women and girls, and how it will be supported financially in the future. Although the grants are not specifically for women, a large amount of the proposals are expected to be generated from women who are familiar with the issues of safety for women and want to help. In approximately ninety-five percent of domestic abuse cases, the victims are women, and it is estimated that in the United States alone, about 22 percent of women have experienced domestic abuse.

The Women's Resource Center provides a large range of services for women, including emergency shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence, a 24-hour crises hot line, transitional housing for domestic violence victims and their children, education and support groups.
