Women Receive Education Grants From P.E.O.

Philanthropic Educational Organization
Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, is a philanthropic organization that holds a special place in the hearts of many women. It has pioneered programs dedicated to helping women further their education and fulfilling their goals since 1869.

Started by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, P.E.O. has grown into an organization of a quarter of a million members with chapters in the U.S. and Canada. Their support programs include grants, scholarships, awards and loans that assist and motivate women to pursue higher education and make their goals in life come true.

Some of the awards may be a combination of education grants and loans for graduating seniors planning to attend college, and scholarships for advanced education such as a master's and doctorate degree. One chapter, for example, recently awarded a combination of an education loan plus a $1,000 grant to help a student continue her education toward a nursing degree.

The philanthropic organization is continually looking for young women, older women and women in need who want to further their education and need financial assistance. Their goal is to help women reach their potential by supporting them with the financial assistance they need to complete their education and prepare them to be successful in their chosen careers.
